Dr. Hector B. Jimenez was a pioneering cardiologist and the founder of Jimenez Medical, Hector B. Jimenez MD Cardiovascular Center. Dr. Jimenez's profound commitment to his patients and to advancing medical practices left an indelible mark on the healthcare community in South Florida and beyond.

In 2022, we all beard the loss of a dear friend and longtime colleague to many, Cardiologist, Hector B. Jimenez M.D. Dr. Jimenez, as many knew him peacefully passed away in his hometown of Miami, FL; surrounded by his family on Friday, August 26th, 2022.
After completing Medical School at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, his home country, Dr. Jimenez was accepted to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 1977 as a resident in Internal Medicine and Oncology. Upon completion, he then proceeded to complete his Cardiology Fellowship training at the University of Miami in 1984 and joined the Division of Cardiology as a Voluntary Faculty Member.
Over the years, Dr. Jimenez served the Healthcare Community in a variety of administrative capacities, including University of Miami Vice Chief of the Department of Medicine in 2005-2006, President of the Medical Staff in 2010-2011, and member of the Medical Executive Committee from 2006 to 2012. He was chief of the Cardiology Division at Cedars Medical Center from 1996 to 1997 and 2002 to 2005 and was chair of Cedars' International Advisory Section from 1996 to 2005.
Dr. Jimenez was a sought-after speaker in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, addressing conferences in Peru, Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Trinidad and Tobago, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. Over the course of his career, he garnered numerous awards, including the Presidential Award from the Dominican Republic in 2003; his home country's principal order and highest recognition, Orden al Merito de Duarte, Sanchez y Mella, for distinguished service, in 2004; and recognition by the Dominican Senate as an "exemplary scientific professional in the field of medicine." He held an honorary professorship at the University of Santo Domingo.
Dr. Jimenez also maintained a private practice since 1985, and as the deliverer of care in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, Dr. Jimenez founded the organizations Hector B. Jimenez MD PA, Hector Jimenez Cardiovascular Center, and Jimenez Medical Center, Inc; all dedicated to serving the medical communities of South Florida with concentrations in Miami-Dade County.
In addition, Dr. Jimenez had a passion for Global and Population Health, he led and collaborated in thriving medical programs with concentrations domestically in the United States, in his home Country of the Dominican Republic and throughout Latin America. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association and a member of several other professional associations including the American Medical Association, the South Florida Health Foundation, the Florida Dominican Foundation, and the Dominican Association of Cardiologists. He also, was a co-founder and 2016 Chairman of the Board of South Florida ACO and member of the Board of Directors of Palm Beach ACO.
Dr. Jimenez lived an extraordinary life marked by love of family, and the unconditional dedication to his patients. In his personal life, Hector B. Jimenez MD was a lover of baseball, music, and dancing, especially to the rhythm of the “Merengue” originating in the Dominican Republic.
Most importantly, he was committed to his faith, loved God with all his heart, and was committed to loving his precious family, and neighbors, making friends of all kinds throughout his life. As a committed Catholic alongside his wife Maria, and sons he loved giving back to the community through Church.
He leaves behind Maria Jimenez, his wife of 49 years, first born, Hector Jose Jimenez and his wife Rafaela Jimenez, and their twin boys, Hector, and Victor Jimenez. His second son Victor Jimenez and his wife Elizabeth Jimenez and their daughter, Elizabeth Victoria Jimenez.
Although he moves on to heaven to join with God, and his father Domingo Jimenez, he does also leave behind his cherished mother Marina Jimenez, sister Flerida Jimenez, brother Jose Ernesto Jimenez and family, and sister Dr. Nilda Jimenez.
In the end it all leads back to his patients, Dr. Jimenez will be sorely missed by family, friends and colleagues and the community of patients from all around the world which he cared for with such a big transcending heart. We have felt an immense gratitude from colleagues for 38 years of Dr. Jimenez's wonderful friendship and invaluable service to the Healthcare Community. He will be remembered as a respected clinician who remained dedicated to his patients to the end, and as his cherished family, we know one thing will always be true, Dr. Jimenez will always be looking after us and his blessed heart will forever be felt amongst us.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude from the love and support we have received from all of Dr. Jimenez’s loved ones since the passing of our loving Husband, and Father, Dr. Hector B. Jimenez. The outpouring of love has been felt across everyone Dr. Jimenez felt and touched throughout his life. From the loving church ministries to the many friends, colleagues, family, and family of patients; we thank you from the innermost of our hearts for the love you have shared with us.
